I made it to Dubai

The clock just rolled over to Monday, September 11, 2006. Doug Crawford, Mark Rehbein and I were in a bar in Dubai talking about our strategy for tomorrow. None of us noticed the signifigance.

Four years ago, Tracie and I signed the documents which finalized the adoption of our third child - our daughter Tate. I remember well what the Russian woman said to us at the consulate as we were making copies of the paperwork that day:

"On this day, a sad day in the history of your country, I hope that this day will live on warmly in your memories." It was a good moment, and one that I'll always remember.

Two hours ago, we landed in Dubai, the first moments of what (I hope) will bbe a decisive moment in all of our lives. We're here in Duba to put more flesh to Rehbein Environmental Solutions, International -- a partnership between RES (US) and an Emirati, Khalid Al Ghurair.

Along the way, I hope to take a few photos, eat some good food, and keep this journal up to date. Right now, I'm really, really tired. And I'm going to bed.

Going to the races

Granpa Mike called with an IDEA yesterday - "Say, how would you like to take the kids to the Sprint Car races in New Richmond, Wisconsin?"

I said I'd bite. It sounds loud, dusty, and expensive, but, as Grandpa Mike pointed out, "It only comes around once a year."

It can't hurt, can it?

The Shroyer Chronicles Are Back

It's been a while, we've been offline. The previous software we used for The Shroyer Chronicles turned out to be a bit buggy, but we slogged through it. What ultimately broke the system, however, was its security problems - I couldn't stop the site from being spammed and broken into.

So we start over.

Welcome (back) to The Shroyer Chronicles at SWD Ranch. We'll do our best to deliver ongoing doses of Shroyer goodness, complete with pictures, when we can.
