I made it to Dubai
The clock just rolled over to Monday, September 11, 2006. Doug Crawford, Mark Rehbein and I were in a bar in Dubai talking about our strategy for tomorrow. None of us noticed the signifigance.
Four years ago, Tracie and I signed the documents which finalized the adoption of our third child - our daughter Tate. I remember well what the Russian woman said to us at the consulate as we were making copies of the paperwork that day:
"On this day, a sad day in the history of your country, I hope that this day will live on warmly in your memories." It was a good moment, and one that I'll always remember.
Two hours ago, we landed in Dubai, the first moments of what (I hope) will bbe a decisive moment in all of our lives. We're here in Duba to put more flesh to Rehbein Environmental Solutions, International -- a partnership between RES (US) and an Emirati, Khalid Al Ghurair.
Along the way, I hope to take a few photos, eat some good food, and keep this journal up to date. Right now, I'm really, really tired. And I'm going to bed.
